Hi Guys,

I want to get into web design. I think I'm going to need it to survive. I've been designing for years and never got into it as my business was all about print output. I'm clean and fairly 'slick' in Illustrator and I'm good at doing art in Photoshop (but not too experienced in photography type image processing).

So, here's the questions and sorry for sounding very thick. I would be gratetful if you web folks could advise me.

where should I learn web design? - Would I try it online or do an evening course?

There's a course in Dreamweaver in my city, should I do that?

Is flash redundant and what's going to replace it?

If I gave it my full focus how long would it take me to fairly competent?

If you guys could give me any advice, please do as I'm in need of it.

The best way to go about this is to practice. You can further enhance your knowledge and skills from other resources such as tutorials, blogs, on-line courses, local courses, seminars, private groups and pro-web design courses.

A person who wants to become a web designer should also learn about scripting. Many people opt to learn JavaScript, which provides a good foundation in client-side script programming. It may also be a good idea to learn about server-side scripting.
