The salary for a caricature artist varies according to industry of employment. The independent artists, writers, and performers industry held the highest level of employment for fine artists, including painters, sculptors and illustrators in 2010, with an estimated 3,260 jobs that year. The annual mean salary for artists employed in this industry was $51,340. Artists employed in the newspaper, periodical, book and directory publishers industry earned an annual mean salary of $51,470, while artists employed in the other miscellaneous store retailers earned an annual mean salary of $47,720.
