Try setting your monitor to the highest resolution. Lower resolutions can cause the LCD screen to flicker.
I recently repaired an Acer laptop with a flickering monitor problem that seemed related to the mouse. But after reinstalling the drivers and checking the BIOS, the actual problem turned out to be the power supply board. When I disconnected the laptop's power supply the flickering stopped.
Usually, monitor flickering happens because of 2 reasons:
1. Loose cord or faulty monitor cable.
2. A flickering backlight, which indicates that the CCFL tube is getting old and needs to be replaced.
